I never realized just how much of a (classic) horror fan I am until I had this conversation with Robert and Stephen from Coffee With Aliens At the Movies. I always knew I loved the Universal Monsters films from the 1930s and 1940s, but I never realized just how deep my love and appreciation for these films actually is.
I mean, I’ve spent the better part of my life watching these films over and over again without really taking into account how I actually felt about them. Horror, to me at least, was always a very frivolous and one-dimensional film genre. Now, having spoken to both Robert and Stephen about this particular topic, I realize how much of a true impact horror has had on my life and within the film industry, too.
We touched upon this point briefly in the livestream we filmed over the weekend and that point is is that each of us really does believe that out of all the film genres that exist and have existed in the past, the horror film genre is the one that’s evolved the most over time. Horror can mean so many different things to so many different people and our bodies and minds react to it in myriad ways. I can’t honestly say that I get that same feeling or think that same way about any other film genre.
If you’re interested in learning more about horror films – old and new – then please do watch the livestream recording when you have a moment. It’s a great conversation and we each had so much fun recording it. I swear, I haven’t laughed that much in a very long time!
Thank you to Robert and Stephen for inviting me onto their channel and for being such phenomenal hosts! If you’re a film lover, you should definitely check out their channel and subscribe if you like what you see. They have some really stellar content and upload quite frequently, so there’s always something new to watch.
